During this pandemic, we are all making extra efforts to keep our homes clean from the coronavirus. One of the most vulnerable spots in your home is your kitchen countertops. Your countertops are the first place you set your masks, groceries, mail, and other items you drop when you enter your home, so keeping your countertops clean is extremely important.

Quartz countertops are both beautiful and durable, so the last thing you want to do when trying to be “extra clean” is to ruin your quartz countertops. In most cases, using just regular dish soap and water will get rid of most dirt and germs, but during this time, it is easier to have a spray bottle of disinfectant-ready, so you can quickly wipe down your countertops.  

One option is to have a spray bottle filled with diluted bleach. This might not be an ideal option because of the smell and the potential to ruin your clothes. If you do prefer bleach because it makes your quartz countertops look extra clean, then make sure to have a window open while cleaning and never mix it with vinegar or ammonia. 

The ideal option is to use a cleaner like Lysol Disinfectant. Spray all your quartz countertops down and let the spray sit for about 5-10 minutes before wiping clean. This gives the disinfectant some time to kill any germs your “dropped” items might have carried into your home.
