CARE AND MAINTENANCE GENERAL GUIDE

Always refer to the brand-specific Care and Maintenance Guide provided

by the manufacturer of your countertop for accurate instructions

DAILY CLEANING

Simply clean with dish soap and water or with a regular household cleaner like Windex.

A premium cleaner like Granite Gold® Quartz Brite will adequately clean and polish your quartz countertops.

HARD TO REMOVE STAINS AND MARKS

White and light-colored countertops are easier to stain and get metal marks, but with a little patience, they can be removed

For stuck food or lime buildup, use a razor blade and gently scrape it off, then rinse well.

For stubborn stains and marks, follow any of the following three cleaning methods:

Dawn Cleaning Method

  • Apply regular Dawn dishwashing liquid on the stain and leave for 15 minutes
  • With a non-abrasive scrub pad, scrub in circles applying gentle pressure
  • Rinse well and dry with a soft cloth

Vinegar Cleaning Method

  • Pour white vinegar over the stain and leave for 15-30 minutes
  • With a non-abrasive scrub pad, scrub in circles applying gentle pressure
  • Rinse well and dry with a soft cloth

Bar Keeper’s Friend Method (not recommended by some brands)

  • Pour a small amount of Liquid Bar Keeper’s Friend over the stain. Avoid the powder kind because it is too abrasive
  • With a non-abrasive scrub pad, scrub in circles applying gentle pressure
  • Rinse well and dry with a soft cloth

TEXTURED, HONED, MATTE, AND SOLID DARK COLORS

It is normal for these finishes to show fingerprints, grease, oils, food, dirt, liquids, metal marks, and stains from daily living and cooking. much more than a polished surface and require more frequent and deep cleaning.

PREVENT CHIPS, SCRATCHES, AND OTHER DAMAGE

  • Ask other trade installers to avoid placing their tools and building materials, including tile, on your countertops as they could easily get damaged
  • Avoid using sharp objects to cut directly on the surface, instead, use a cutting board
  • Scouring pads and abrasive pads may scratch and dull the surface
  • Do not drag heavy objects across the surface or place any heavy items that are unsuitable for countertop use
  • Chips, scratches, and cracks are not covered by warranty. Treat your stone with care to prevent chips and dents caused by impact

PREVENT HEAT DAMAGE AND CRACKS

  • Always use a trivet or rubber mat for hot pots and pans, frying pans, crockpots, slow cookers, and any other appliances that give off heat, and avoid placing them near a seam
  • High heat and prolonged heat may cause damage and thermal shock resulting in a crack
  • Sudden changes in temperature, including cold drafts in a warm area may cause a thermal shock as well

PREVENT CHEMICAL DAMAGE

  • Never leave batteries on the surface to prevent damage by acid spill
  • Do not use paint strippers, Drano, caustic soda, bleach, solvents, oven-cleaning products, nail polish remover, harsh chemicals, permanent markers, or abrasive cleaners.

ADDITIONAL PRECAUTIONS

  • Avoid leaving water on the surface for long periods, especially around the sink and faucet
  • Continuous exposure to direct sunlight (UV Rays) may result in discoloration of the surface. Quartz is not intended to be installed outdoors
  • Avoid standing on the countertops
  • Due to normal tear and wear, you may need to touch up or renew the backsplashes caulk, silicones, and seams resins as part of your home’s regular maintenance to keep your countertops looking great.
