How to Clean Granite Countertops

You finally have the kitchen that you’ve always wanted with granite countertops…now learn how to take care of it! One commonly asked question is how to clean granite countertops.

Daily Cleaning

To clean granite countertops on a daily basis, we recommend using Granite Gold Daily Cleaner with hot water and a rag. After scrubbing the granite, take a clean, dry rag and dry your countertop. It’s that simple for everyday use! Always be sure to clean every inch of the countertop because sometimes it’s hard to see the dirt and grime on granite due to intricate designs. It is best to wash and dry the granite in small sections because if you leave the soap sitting too long, it will become streaky. Cleaning granite countertops daily will help fight residue that can build up over daily use. On top of the daily cleaner, regularly apply Granite Gold Polish to keep the original shine of the granite intact!

Disinfecting Granite Countertops

In order to disinfect and kill bacteria on your granite countertops, combine 1 part isopropyl alcohol, and 2 parts water to spray on the countertop. An added benefit to this mixture is leaving your granite countertops not only bacteria free, but a beautiful shine as well. Spray the mixture all over your countertops and let it sit for about 5 minutes. After 5 minutes with a dry rag, scrub the mixture off!

Products That Can Harm Granite Countertops

Products like Windex, bleach, harsh cleaners or chemicals can break down your granite and ultimately ruin the finish on them. It is safe to simply use hot water and dish soap to keep your granite countertops looking like new!

Sealing Granite Countertops

Sealing your granite is vital to keeping the finish flawless and strong. We recommend sealing your granite countertops once a year with Granite Gold Sealer to prevent stains.

  1. Completely clean the granite countertops and then dry it
  2. Spray the sealer on one section of the granite
  3. Use a paintbrush or sponge to spread the sealer evenly
  4. Dry the countertop off with a clean rag (make sure it’s completely dry)

Wait about 2 hours and your granite is shiny and free to use! Follow these easy steps and your granite will look better and last longer!
